PROGRAM STARTED - SIGN UPS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU.

Holding Ground is a 6 month online support and coaching program for leaders, business owners and decision makers.

The current pandemic is something so different from anything we’ve faced in our lifetimes. For many members of our communities, this time of dismantling the old, and changing and adapting to the new is going to be terrifying. For some people it’s going to open up space for their darkest shadows and ask that they confront things they’ve been trying to run away from for years, or maybe even decades.

I’ve invited you here because you’re a people focused leader. Whether it’s in your official title, or whether you are naturally just the person who connects with others in everything you do, you touch the hearts of many and have the influence and responsibility of affecting so many lives with your words, actions and demeanour.

And that’s why I’m inviting you to let me support you for the next six months. I want you to be able to have the deepest and biggest capacity to hold space for your community, for your people, over the coming months, and to do that without it costing you your own health and well-being.

In times of crisis, our nature as leaders is to run in and give everything we can, the shirt off our back, to those around us to alleviate their suffering. We do this because we know our own strength, we know we can deal with the consequences and we can save someone else the pain. I’m inviting you to let me remind you over and over of that strength, but also to help remind you when you need to reserve that love and energy for yourself. So that you don’t give away so much of your time and energy and your love that you can’t help anyone.

Let me help you keep your cup full and overflowing so that you can continue to give and serve those people who’s lives you touch.

While I certainly see a time of crisis coming, something a bit harder and deeper than where we are currently, I don’t see it lasting at that depth for six months. It is my biggest hope and dream (as an eternal optimist) that we’ll move past that, and as that occurs, the focus of this group will shift too.

This space and pause is gifting us with so many lessons and opportunities alongside the hardship. It’s really essential that as the world begins to open up again, we carry these lessons forward with us to create a human experience so much deeper and richer than the one we have been living. One where we embrace the incredible sense of gratitude of being able to hug each other and spend time with one another. One where we acknowledge how impactful our actions actually are on the environment and how much power we have to use this for the benefit of us and our planet. One where we deeply recognise how interconnected we all are and realise how much our one decision actually impacts so many. One where we understand the value and purpose of rest and relaxation, and don’t feel the need to be in perpetual motion at all times.

Our true leaders need to bring these lessons to light, to truly embody them and blaze the path as we create our new world. It’s a big task I’m asking of you – to be really visible and seen as we move forward out of this. To light that path for others. I want to support you here too. In being comfortable to be seen and heard. In being so confident in leading the way. To hold you in the knowing that the work you’re doing is creating a new way for the world. One that is healing and opening us up to a much more blissful and loving way of existing.

No guarantees that this will be easy work, far from that in fact. I think all of us will find this challenging in unexpected ways. But I deeply believe in you. And I deeply believe in the value of what you do and what you have to offer.

If you know you’re in and are ready to join me, please see the details below and click through to sign up. If you’re feeling deeply called to this but scared or unsure, I’ve written more for you below.

about

me

I’ve been coaching, holding space, and guiding people to find their own release in times of crisis for the last eight years. I’ve shifted and moved through jobs a lot in that time, moving on when I had learned what I needed from it. Looking back, this has created a wealth of knowledge and experience for me to guide my own business and our incredible team of leaders forward in this challenging time.

From a work perspective, I started off as a paralegal in a human resources law firm, specialising in all elements of employment law. My job was to regularly create briefings and update our clients on changes within employment law and workplace safety standards, as well as to answer general questions about the application of the law. I also spent 1.5 years working as the bookkeeper and payroll officer for a small group of hospitality businesses in Noosa Heads, becoming familiar with all the financial obligations and reporting that went along with that, and become proficient in budgeting and forecasting for businesses. I started and ran my first profitable sole trader business as a personal trainer in 2013, before moving into a more senior role with Fernwood Fitness as their personal training manager. During this time, I developed my ability to lead a team, and regularly created and lead sales training, leadership training, and mental health and wellness training for our team. We grew to become the number one performing personal training team in Australia for personal training sales, both in gross profits and as a percentage of members signed up. We focused on building community within our walls and each trainer proudly adopted a sense of leadership and knew the power they had to set good examples for all of our members. It was during this time that I pivoted in my first business to go from offering personal training to mindset and leadership coaching. I spoke at various events and venues on mindset techniques, and coached hundreds of women in this area. I published a book covering the basics of some of these techniques and hosted retreats to teach them in greater depth.

At this time in my life, my “training” in how to cope in crisis really started to show up. I was in an abusive six-year relationship and was suffering from crippling anxiety and depression. My drive to help others came so much from the thought that if I couldn’t save myself then I’d help save everyone else. After lots of painful inner work and growth, learning and using more and more tools, I left behind everything. My business, my work, my clients, my house, my friends, and my partner. And this started years of deep work in learning how to manage, survive and thrive through heavy bouts of PTSD, more anxiety, suicidal thoughts and deep depressions.

I found my release in surfing and rediscovered joy and laughter. I worked hard to hold myself through my darkest times. And I dedicated my life to bringing as much joy, lightness, fun and ease into this world as possible. I moved back into a team leadership role at a backpacker’s hostel, again working with a team and training and leading them to be officially awarded the number one performing hostel in Melbourne 2 years in a row. This role was 90% fun times, but continued my training in crisis management. I would be on duty when we had people overdose. When guests would descend into deep panic attacks. When people would walk in off the street and threaten violence and thefts. When I was the front line in dealing with actual violence and thefts. In talking people down from killing themselves. And unfortunately in one case, dealing with the death of a guest. This was a role where I was the front line for protecting my staff, protecting our guests and negotiating with people who were not always in sound mind when something went wrong. It was part and parcel of my job to be on the phone with the police or ambulance (and more rarely the fire brigade) once every two weeks or so. And holding all this, while keeping the vibrant, fun and happy sense of community alive within the hostel, which we did - and we did it well.

I started Honu Honi – my current business – in order to give myself complete freedom to play and have fun. To let my work be all about relaxation and enjoyment. It has been my greatest joy to offer pure bliss through what we do – surf and yoga camps and events - and I cannot wait to return to that. But now is a time for me to offer what I do best, and that is to mentor and coach leaders, and use all the tools I have and know to hold them through a time of crisis. To guide you, as you hold this space for others. To keep the hope and faith of your community members burning strong, to bring lightness and joy in hard times, while simultaneously holding space for their darkest shadows to come forward. This is really what I do best through many years of hard fought experience, and it would be a true honour to hold you and guide you through this time so that as many people as possible can be held, given the space they need to process in a safe way, and come out the other end of this better than they went in. Healed, open, loved, brave and able to recognise their own deep inner strength and resilience. That is my true hope and wish for us as leaders, and our communities that we love.

This program is completely outside of what I normally offer through my business - part of the reason this page has no branding, and a small reason behind why this won't be openly advertised.

The reason I'm offering this program is because it is in my deepest calling to do so. I know with every inch of my being that my skills and experiences on this earth so far were preparing me to do this now.

The words and work for this program came to me in rapid stream and I wrote it out, trying to keep up with the pace that they were arriving. Below is that initial stream of consciousness as it came. Unrefined, messy, but in it's completeness as it poured in.

There's a fine line between fear that keeps us genuinely safe, and panic where no useful and clear decisions or thinking can be had. We need our leaders (you) to feel strong, grounded and safe so that you can go and hold space for all those other people in your community. I am here to help you return to your strength again and again and again.

This container is exclusively be for 9 people (myself included) who are people focused leaders. For the ones that all others turn to for guidance, support and wisdom.

This space will be the safe place for you to speak out all your fears, let the words you don't want to or can't say flow out, and for you to receive support and guidance.

The support and guidance you'll receive from me won't be answers to your problems, or quick fix solutions. I will never pretend to know what is best for you, the people you support, or your work. I will teach you and hold you with a vast array of tools and personal teaching on how to support your nervous system in times of extreme stress and pressure. How to distinguish between real fears and what is just noise. How to return to your strength, your power and your sense of knowing no matter what is in front of you.

This is an invitation to let me hold you, so that you can go out into your communities and help them to shoulder their fears while staying true to your strengths. So you can offer reassurance to all those in your influence and be completely supported yourself.

I'm asking you to acknowledge the true power and influence you have, and by doing so, recognising that this work is so much bigger than you. Being supported and helped during this time is the deepest service to the people in your community, and the world at large. By accepting support, fully receiving it, you allow yourself to show up in your biggest and fullest capacity for the world right now. And right now is when that is most needed.

I know the depths of human fear and pain. Over years, I’ve been the one called to talk and calm someone who’s ready to end their life. I’ve been the support to people in the moments that they’ve suddenly lost everything their hearts’ held dear. And I’ve been the one to hold peace and step in and provide safety to others in violent situations. I’ve been able to hold others when they were facing the deepest, darkest, scariest parts of themselves because I had to learn to hold myself there. And I had to learn how to guide myself out of there too. As we go through the transitions we currently see happening in the world, peoples shadows, and the shadow side of our community at large, are coming to light - and we’re being forced to face with them. To acknowledge them. To deal with them so we can allow ourselves (individually and collectively) to heal. To let go. To move forward with more peace.

And people will be scared. People will be violent. People will lash out when they don’t know how else to cope.

The world needs its true leaders (that’s you guys) now more than ever to be their beacons for calm, safety and strength. To be role models for facing up to our shadows with grace, compassion and acceptance, and allowing them to pass. And that’s a big order. I know every single one of you is capable of holding this space for yourselves and your communities and loved ones. You have all you need already to do this job. (Otherwise I wouldn’t have contacted you). And in recognising how vital it is that you are able to work at your best right now, you may recognise the deep value in being supported to do what you need to.

Holding Ground is my way to offer you help in keeping your nervous system in balance and the quality of your thoughts and beliefs in check. It’s the opening for me to suggest some tools for you to implement and test for yourselves and those around you. Let me be here to remind you over and over that you know the answers, when the doubt gets overwhelming. And let me guide you back to your centre as often as you need, so you can hear your inner voice and knowledge clearly and act without hesitation.

This is a 6 month program. It is my hope and dream that in that time frame we will pass through the worst of what’s coming and be working on rebuilding our world in a better way by the time the 6 months has come to pass.

Our sessions will be part workshop, part practical calming methods, and part discussion so that we’re always working with what is actually relevant to what we’re being asked to bring to the world. Outside of our fortnightly calls, you’ll have the opportunity for weekly check ins with the whole group, and you’ll always have email access to me if you need support in between these spaces.

We’ll be exploring what I refer to as masculine and feminine energies, but you can use any terminology you prefer. What I’m talking about is not men and women or even stereotypes of genders but rather balancing qualities that exist equally in all of us. I associate the masculine with pushing through, getting things done and not stopping until a result is achieved. This is a systems nearly everyone is familiar with and is sometime touted as the only way. It’s certainly what our economy and our business culture at large has been built on, and it’s this imbalance to this side that I truly believe is resulting is some crumbling for the world right now.

I associate the feminine with rest, creation, and moving with the flow (ie accepting what is). The masculine and feminine are beautifully balance - a true yin and yang. And it seems that the world is really calling on us to find that balance. To learn to have both (by forcing us into the resting). As leaders moving forward from the peak of this crisis, our job also becomes setting the new standard for how we can operate in this world. How we can learn to rest when our culture has valued grinding for so long.

We need both aspects equally and so as we move out of crisis mode and into rebuilding, the focus of the group will natural evolve into how we can embody this balance and exemplify it for our communities. How can we truly lead them and ensure that as a community we don’t forget all the beautiful lessons we’ve just learnt.
