SURFING FAQs

Can I come by myself?

Absolutely! We love having solo adventurers! You'll feel at home with your new crew so quickly, trust us. There's nothing like bonding over crazy wipe outs!

Is there an age limit for the surf camps?

Yes, we're an adults only surf camp. You'll need to be 18 years or older to come along and have a government issued photo ID to prove it.

Can I bring luggage with me?

On our One Day Surf Therapy Road Trips, everyone can bring a small backpack, but unfortunately our space is limited so we can't cater for large bags or suitcases. If you're joining us at our surf camp, then of course you can bring whatever you need. Just give us a heads up if you have any very bulky items like your own surf board, a guitar or massive amounts of luggage and are opting to get a lift to and from the nearest station. Please note that we are staying at a camp ground and that you will be responsible for everything you bring with you.

How far in advance should I book?

We try to keep all of our adventures pretty personal and cap most of our trips between 6 and 18 people. So we recommend the sooner the better to make sure you get the dates you want.

What is your refund policy?

We will refund you 100% of your booking fee if you provide us more than 7 days notice. If you realise you can't make it with 7 days or less until your scheduled to join us, we can't offer you a refund, but you are able to change the name on the booking so you can pass it on to a friend.

What should I bring with me?

Bring something you can swim and surf in (bather/ swimmers), a towel or two, thongs (flip flops/ sandals for our overseas guests), a water bottle and make sure you have at least one warm change of clothes (including a jumper or sweater) which are easy to move around in for yoga. We'll provide surf boards, wetsuits, yoga mats, sunscreen, and meals. Those booking in to stay at our surf camp will have tents and bedding provided too, and can expect to receive a more comprehensive list of items to bring along with their booking confirmation.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?

For the Surf Therapy Trips and Weekender stays, the surf lesson will generally be conducted in waist to chest depth water, and you will have the option to stick in closer to the beach. Please let us know if you are not confident in the water, so that the surf instructor can keep a closer eye on you. We only use certified surf instructors, which means that they are required to pass surf life saving tests regularly in order to maintain their qualification. These surf lessons are suitable for complete beginners. For our Seven Day Surf Adventure, we would want you to feel comfortable and confident to be able to move in the water as we will likely progress out into deeper water by the end of the week.

Do I need to be flexible to do yoga?

Not at all! Our yoga lessons are all about relaxing the body and tapping in to a sense of calm and peace. No need to roll yourself into a pretzel in order to achieve that (although you are welcome to pretzel yourself if that makes you happy).

What sort of meals are we eating?

Awesome question! It depends on the day, but usually it will be something relatively simple and wholesome. The food we serve is always nourishing and plant based with option to add animal products available for those coming along to our camp. We can cater to dietary requirements, you just need to let us know when booking.

Can I bring my own surfboard?

On all surf camp you are welcome to bring your own board, however it's a requirement that foam boards are used during lessons. Also please note that it will most likely be strapped on to the roof of our vehicle if we are transporting you and that we'll ask you to sign a waiver for any damage that may be caused by transporting it. We can only take a limited number of boards with us, so you will need to let us know when booking if you intend to bring your own board. Unfortunately we can't cater for boards on the One Day Surf & Yoga Trips.

Can I hire boards or wetsuits through you guys without coming on camp?

Sorry, we're all about the camp experience! If you're looking for a board hire place in Torquay we highly recommend Go Ride A Wave. They have a range of foam and fiberglass boards available to hire ranging from 9'6" to 6'1" in size, plus a range of wetsuits suitable for the water temperatures in this part of the world.
