Your Weekly Surf Outlook - 4th Sep 2026.

Happy Friday!

We've got some lush conditions coming for us this week! Week one of Make A Wave for SurfAid is underway and our team is coming second in the surf school fundraising tally. Becks is trying to nail a helicopter turn on her board across the month too, to add to the challenge (which hopefully will provide plenty of entertainment for you all). If you want to encourage the team and leave a donation, you can do that here. The biggest thank you to Katie, Jenny, and Joëlle who have all left donations over the last week!

We have a social surf tomorrow morning too and we’d love to see you there (though we're waiting to see if the conditions calm down a little at this stage)! Location details will be sent out later today. You can book yourself in via your email or on the website here (you don’t need to do both) to receive the location email. If the conditions are sounding a bit intense tomorrow, you can grab a last-minute spot in our Mobility Unlocked workshop happening in Torquay instead. We'd love to have you!

We’re going to see some serious sandbank rearranging this week with some big swells moving things around.

Here’s a rough guide to what we’re expecting over the next week:

Saturday: Very windy with steep hollow waves likely all over. Honestly ok as a rest day.

Swell – Single SW swell with long 15 sec period, meaning clean wave faces all day. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Roady (low tide), Fishos (high), and Whites, 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, and Urquharts Bluff, 5-6ft at Juc, and 13th, 6-7ft at Guvvos, and 7-8ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.

Wind – Offshore to cross-offshore (WNW) all day and strong, bordering on dangerous. Morning is a touch better with winds sitting between 25-28km/h and gusts up to 64km/h, with it picking up significantly from midday onwards. If that wind comes in as forecast, the waves will be hollow, steep, and hard to paddle on to. You’ll have to really hold on to your board as it’s likely to fly back towards you any time you’re not in control of it. Make sure you’re covering your head on every wipeout too in case it comes back for you. You’ll need to keep an eye on your positioning when you’re sitting on your board, as the wind will be blowing you out to sea between waves.

Tide – Starting to mellow a little, with the low creeping up to a mid-tide height. Low of 0.8m at 10:39am and a high of 2.1m at 4:40pm.

Sunday: Looking clean with everything settling down as the day goes on.

Swell – We have a single SW swell all day that’s losing a bit of size as it goes. First thing in the morning, we’re expecting 2-3ft at Fishos and Whites, 3-4ft at Addis and Cosy, 4-5ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 6-7ft at Juc and 13th, 7-8ft at Guvs, and 8-9ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We’re seeing the size drop off pretty rapidly across the morning and from around 10am onwards, we’re expecting 1-2ft less across all beaches.

Wind – Cross-shore (W) most of the day swinging cross-offshore (WNW) in the afternoon. There’s still a moderate push to it across the morning, noticeable and may create a little chop, but not a deal breaker for some fun waves. Likely just a touch annoying. It’s forecast to continue dropping out as the day continues so the waves should get cleaner and cleaner as we go.

Tide – No real low to speak of – mid to high tide locations only. Low of 0.9m at 11:23am and high of 2.0m at 5:21pm.

Monday: Smaller and a little lumpy bumpy.

Swell – We have three SW swells forecast for today. Our primary is continuing to drop off in size across the day, with one secondary putting the occasional double up in the waves, and making some wave faces slightly chunkier or fatter. The third swell in there is so small, it’s unlikely we’ll notice it at all. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 3-4ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvs, and 4-5ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.

Wind – Starting the morning cross-shore (W) before swinging onshore from around midday onwards. It’s very mild all day, so while the onshore wind shouldn’t dramatically impact the wave shape, it does tend to bring up the cold Antarctic air with it, so wear your warmer wettie if you have options.

Tide – Mellowing more – mid to high tide spots only today. Highs of 2.0m at 6:57am and 1.9m at 6:12pm, with a low of 1.1m at 12:15pm.

Tuesday: Lovely mellow day with plenty of double ups about, but still fun clean waves.

Swell – We have two SW swells coming through with similar-ish size so expect plenty of double ups and slightly chunkier waves. At this stage, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 3-4ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvs, and 4-5ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We're currently seeing a little dip in the forecast around 3pm, before a big, BIG swell is due to start arriving over Tuesday night and into Wed morning (more on that below in Wednesdays forecast). The exact timing of when that bigger swell arrives will be off this far in advance, so worth keeping an eye on Tuesday’s predictions as we get closer to the date.

Wind – Mostly cross-offshore (WNW) all day and mild. Shouldn’t impact much at all.

Tide – Remaining super mellow with the highs also creeping down to meet the ‘low’. High of 1.9m at 8:04am and a low of 1.1m at 1:20pm.

Wednesday: Currently bloody wild. We think this forecast is highly unlikely to hold up across the week.

Swell – We have an absolutely, ridiculously huge SW swell due to be coming in today, and the forecast is showing it reaching insane sizes. There is a secondary SW swell that’s disappearing across the day pretty quickly, but to be honest, if the waves are as big as forecast, there’ll be so much water moving around anyway, you won’t have time to notice. Based on the current forecast, most of our beaches will be a washout for the day as the sandbanks won’t be able to hold on in such big swell – OG, Cosy, Addis, Guvvos, parts of Juc, are all likely to be down and out for the count. Even though the tide is not getting that low, Roady could have 4-5ft waves coming through in the morning, though it’s likely to be swirling with current and the sand will be shifting in there too – it has enough reef under the sand to be holding something. Though as the swell size increases in the arvo, it’ll likely turn into a swirling mess. In the morning Fishos and Whites should have 4-5ft waves firing through with crazy sweep, building to 7-8ft potential in the afternoon and a current like a freight train, the points and reef at Torq and Urqs should be pushing through 6-7ft in the morning, building to 9-10ft in the arvo, the reefy parts at Juc and 13th should be trying to hold 10-12ft in the morning and 12-14ft in the arvo, and Bells, Winki, and Southside in theory will be cranking with 12-14ft in the morning building to 15-17ft in the arvo. To be clear, in seven years of daily surf forecast checks in the area, we’ve only seen it actually come through this size maybe 5-6 times, so while we do not doubt that it will be big enough to be dangerous for the average punter, we’d be surprised if the forecast maintains that size prediction as we get closer to the day. We’re expecting it’ll mellow a bit.

Wind – Cross-onshore (WSW) to onshore all day and pretty mild all day. Mild in the morning to give the cleanest conditions and picking up moderately from around midday onwards, though to be honest, with swell at that size, it’s unlikely to be knocking waves over to much effect – if anything it may make them the tiniest bit mushier and easier to paddle on to.

Tide – Mid to high all day - high of 1.9m at 9:19am and a low of 1.1m at 2:46pm. While thankfully that high tide mark is not super high, such huge swell is likely to send surges up the beach, so watch out under cliffs or against sea walls around the high tide mark in particular (but be vigilant all day).

Thursday: Clean and big. Best in the morning.

Swell – Our mammoth single SW swell is still around though dying off to reasonable across today. With a long 16-17 sec period, we should be in for some very clean waves. At this stage in the morning, we’re expecting 4-5ft at Roady (ish – not rolling the whole way through, but the inner bank may have something), Fishos, and Whites, Addis and Cosy likely to still be a washout in the morning, 6-7ft at Torq, and Urqs (OG still a likely washout), 8-10ft at Juc and 13th, Guvs may just be holding 10-12ft though likely to be washing out under the size still, and 12-14ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. By 6pm, we’re expecting our beaches to have lost 2-3ft in size with Addis coming back into play with 4-5ft waves (Cosy and OG still likely washouts at that size).

Wind – Onshore all day and dead mild in the morning. It’s due to pick up a little to moderate in the mid-arvo so our waves may become a touch more mushy and less clean, but again, at this size, it won’t impact it as much as it usually would.

Tide – Very mellow all day – high of 1.9m at 10:32am and low of 1.1m at 4:21pm. Watch out again around the sea walls and cliffs – more from the big swell than the tide though.

Friday: Currently looking so nice!

Swell – Solid single SW swell with lovely 15 sec period so clean and big - most likely powerful. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Roady (morning low), Fishos (high) and Whites, 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 5-6ft at Juc and 13th, 6-7ft at Guvs, and 7-8ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.

Wind – Cross-offshore all morning, swinging onshore all arvo, but dead mild all day so shouldn’t impact much at all.

Tide – The overnight low is giving us a little option for something to be working at a lower tide location if you head out right at sunrise. Lows of 0.7m at 4:44am and 0.9m at 5:32pm, with a high of 1.9m at 11:32am.

A note about the surf forecast: like all weather forecasts, the further away the prediction is, the more likely it is to change. Most forecasts are only vaguely accurate about four hours in advance, which is why we try and choose the locations for our surf lessons and events the night before to give us the best chance possible to have an accurate read on what will be happening out there. This forecast is to help give you an idea of where you might want to head but please check the forecast again the night before and morning of your planned surf to see if there have been any changes. Always please do a conditions check at the actual beach, because a forecast is still a forecast, and it can just be plain wrong.

If you’d like a daily email or text with detailed information on the forecast for next day (so as accurate as we can get it), you can sign up for our Tomorrow’s Forecast service via the button.

A note on wave size: we talk about the size of the waves in relation to the face or front - how big it would be if you are standing on your surfboard at the base of the wave face looking back at it. For reference, 1-2ft would be roughly knee to thigh (maybe waist) high waves.

That’s it for this week, legends! See you out in the water soon! 🌊✌️

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
