Your Weekly Surf Outlook - 17th Jul 2026.
Happy Friday! It’s looking like another week of pretty lush conditions this whole week, with a little wind to contend with here or there and slightly smaller swell days (which may be a welcome break).
Here’s a rough guide to what we’re expecting over the next week based on the current forecast:
Saturday: Lovely and clean all day.
Swell – We have a little single SW swell with long 13-14 sec period, so we’re expecting nice clean wave faces to play in. We are hoping for 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, and Urquharts Bluff, 3-4ft at Juc, and 13th, 4-5ft at Guvvos, and 5-6ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We’re expecting all beaches to lose a little push across the day and be more on the smaller side of that range by the late arvo and evening.
Wind – Cross-offshore and dead mild all day. Not an impacting factor at all.
Tide – Solid swing today so positioning will move a bit across your surf. Low of 0.3m at 7:49am and high of 2.3m at 2:35pm. Watch out for any sea walls and cliffs on that high – the water will be coming right up.
Sunday: Very little waves and the potential for some double ups but overall still very clean.
Swell – We have three smaller SW swells pushing in across the day. The morning will likely be cleaner and as the day foes on, we can expect more double ups and less rest between sets, though still plenty of clean faces to play on. At this stage, we’re expecting ½-1ft peelers at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 1-2ft at Guvs, 13th, and Juc, and 2-3ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. It’ll likely be more on the smaller side of those ranges later in the day.
Wind – Offshore and dead all day. No impact on our waves.
Tide – Another solid swing - low of 0.4m at 8:34am and high of 2.3m at 3:12pm. Watch out for any sea walls and cliffs on that high – the water will be coming right up.
Monday: Almost identical to Sunday but with more chance of double ups.
Swell – We still have three smaller SW swells pushing in across the day so we’re expecting plenty of double ups and slightly chunky wave faces, as well as less rest between sets. We’re hoping to find ½-1ft peelers at Guvs, 13th, and Juc, and 1-2ft with the occasional 3ft sets at Bells, Winki, and Southside.
Wind – Offshore all day and mostly dead. It’s due to pick up the tiniest bit around midday – enough for you to notice, but it won’t dramatically impact our surf in any way.
Tide – Another solid swing though mellowing a touch - low of 0.5m at 9:17am and high of 2.2m at 3:48pm.
Tuesday: Growing swell and cleaner conditions.
Swell – At this stage we have a single SW swell with long 13-15 sec period forecast, that’s growing across the day. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 2-3ft at Guvs, 13th, and Juc, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside first thing in the morning, but it’s likely to see an extra 1-2ft in size start to roll through from around mid-morning onwards across all beaches, with Addis and Cosy potentially getting going with 1-2ft too as the bigger swell starts to arrive.
Wind – Offshore to cross-offshore (NW) all day. Dead mild in the morning, before picking up a touch in the arvo. Again enough to notice it, but it won’t impact our waves much at all. It’s looking like a lovely clean day out there.
Tide – That morning low is continuing to creep up and make our tidal swing more mellow - low of 0.6m at 9:58am and high of 2.2m at 4:22pm.
Wednesday: Waves are clean, with a bit of wind around though.
Swell – We still have a single SW swell that is hovering on the smaller size. We’d watch this one as we get closer to mid next week as there’s potential for it push through a little bigger than it’s currently showing. At this stage, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 2-3ft at Guvs, 13th, and Juc, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We may see an extra foot of size about, particularly first thing in the morning.
Wind – Cross-offshore (WNW) all day and with a touch more push to it than it’s had the rest of the week but nothing too impactful. You’ll likely notice it a little but it shouldn’t make too much mess in the wave faces. It’s forecast to be worst around 3pm so maybe head to a beach with westerly cliffs (Addis, Juc, Urqs, Torq) if you really want to hide from it.
Tide – Getting much more mellow - low of 0.8m at 10:38am and high of 2.1m at 4:55pm.We may not see our low tides spots really work today with the smaller swell size and higher tide.
Thursday: Very lush looking day – at the moment it’s the pick of the week!
Swell – One solid SW swell all day with long 14 sec period. We’re hoping for clean 1-2ft peelers at Fishos pretty much all day, 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 4-5ft at Juc and the Torquay end of 13th, 5-6ft at the Barwon Heads end of 13th and Guvvos, and 7-8ft at Winki, Bells, and Southside. We may see the occasional set with an extra foot in size around midday to late arvo.
Wind – Cross shore (W) all day and mostly very mild. You may notice the occasional gust, but otherwise we’re not expecting it to have much impact at all. It’s picking up ever so slightly in the late arvo and evening if you want to be really fussy, but we really don’t think it’ll impact much at all.
Tide – So mellow – mid to high tide spots only today. Low of 0.9m at 11:18am and high of 2.0m at 5:28pm.
Friday: Solid swell around but the wind is forecast to be getting into it a bit more today.
Swell – The swell is actually a bit all over the place in the forecast at the moment, but we reckon that’ll clear up a bit as we get closer. We have a growing big SW swell with a super long 15-16 sec period that is due to arrive on our coast across next Friday. At this stage we do have some secondary SW swells in there too, but we reckon (or are hopefully) that they will drop away across the week. At this stage, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Fishos (tide likely too high for Roady), 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 4-5ft at Juc and the Torquay end of 13th, 5-6ft at the Barwon Heads end of 13th and Guvvos, and 7-8ft at Winki, Bells, and Southside. We are seeing a bit of a lull in the swell at 9am at the moment that would see us lose about 1ft of size across all beaches for a couple of hours, and conversely we’ve got a sudden jump around 3pm that would see all beaches pick up an extra foot or so in size. Basically, this one is going to keep shifting as we get closer.
Wind – Cross-offshore (WNW) all day but with some punch. It’s averaging around 22km/h all day which is enough to make the waves a touch choppy and push you along on your board out of position, so expect to have to keep moving back to the peak. We are also expecting gusts up to 59km/h at this stage so you may occasionally have to fight against that. Head to a protected beach (Addis, Juc, Torq, Urqs) for the cleanest conditions.
Tide – So mellow! Definitely mid to high tide spots only today. Low of 1.1m at 11:59am and high of 1.9m at 6:02pm.
A note about the surf forecast: like all weather forecasts, the further away the prediction is, the more likely it is to change. Most forecasts are only vaguely accurate about four hours in advance, which is why we try and choose the locations for our surf lessons and events the night before to give us the best chance possible to have an accurate read on what will be happening out there. This forecast is to help give you an idea of where you might want to head but please check the forecast again the night before and morning of your planned surf to see if there have been any changes. Always please do a conditions check at the actual beach, because a forecast is still a forecast, and it can just be plain wrong.

A note on wave size: we talk about the size of the waves in relation to the face or front - how big it would be if you are standing on your surfboard at the base of the wave face looking back at it. For reference, 1-2ft would be roughly knee to thigh (maybe waist) high waves.
