Your Weekly Surf Outlook - 18th Sep 2026.

Happy Friday!

We've got some lush and big conditions coming for us this week – it’s unseasonably clean and we’ll take it! Our Honu Honi legends team is in week three of the Make A Wave challenge and have nearly reached our fundraising goal (less than $200 to go, though we’d happily go over). Becks is still trying to nail a helicopter turn on her board (much to the amusement of all our social surf crew) – so far have gotten as far as the 180. Still 12 days to  nail the full rotation. If you want to encourage the team and help us reach our fundraising goals, you can do that here. The biggest thank you to Jules, Vajid, Zoe, and Han who have all left donations over the last two weeks!

We have a social surf Sunday arvo too, followed by a trip to About Time Bathhouse at 4pm. The 4pm slot is now fully booked but there were a couple of spaces left at 4:15pm if you want to jump in. We’d love to see you there! You can book yourself in to the social surf via your email or on the website here (you don’t need to do both) to receive the location email. Book directly with About Time Bathhouse to join us there, via their website. 😊 There’s also a social surf on next Friday! So many opportunities to come and jump in the water to play!

Here’s a rough guide to what we’re expecting over the next week:

Saturday: Pretty windy all day, with a bit of size. Protected breaks are the way to go today.

Swell – We have two SW swells pushing in, so we’re expecting clean faces but lots of double ups and slightly lumpy waves. Swell size is up and down a bit across the day. In the morning, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Roady (low tide), Fishos (high), and Whites, 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, and Urquharts Bluff, 5-6ft at Juc, and 13th, 6-7ft at Guvvos, and 7-8ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. There may be a temporary lull around 6am with 1-2ft less. Likewise, from around 3pm onwards, we’re expecting to lose a lot of size, about 2-3ft from all the morning predictions, with Roady, Fishos, and Whites falling flat and Addis and Cosy potentially with tiny ½-1ft peelers.

Wind – Cross-offshore (WNW) to cross-shore (W) all day and strong, with gusts bordering on dangerous, more so in the morning. Last thing before sunset is actually best for the wind. It’s still doable but expect plenty of push along the beach from the wind, a bit of chop in the face any time you try to paddle against it, and for the waves to be a touch steeper. We’d recommend protected breaks like Addis, Juc, Torquay, and Urqs over the open beaches.

Tide – A little mellow – mid to high tide spots only today really. Low of 0.9m at 10:23am and a high of 1.9m at 4:18pm.

Sunday: Clean in the morning, throwing barrels (windy) in the afternoon.

Swell – We have a single SW swell all day that’s losing a bit of size as it goes. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 3-4ft at Juc and 13th, 4-5ft at Guvs, and 5-6ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We’re seeing the size drop off just a touch across the day, so more on the lower end of that scale as the day progresses.

Wind – Offshore all day so we can expect the waves to be clean, and dead mild in the morning. It’s due to start picking up from around 9am and to be become strong from around midday (just in time for the social surf at 1pm 🙄), with wind forecast between 27-33km/h and gusts hitting up to 70km/h. Definitely one for a protected break in the arvo. Waves will still be clean but pitchy and steep as, and we’re likely to see barrels popping up at certain spots on the coast.

Tide – No real low to speak of – mid to high tide locations  only. Low of 1.0m at 10:55am and high of 1.8m at 4:48pm.

Monday: Huge and clean today.

Swell – We have a big single SW swell forecast for today. We’re expecting 2-3ft at Whites, Fishos, and the beachy at Roady, 3-4ft at Addis and Cosy, 4-5ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 6-7ft at Juc, and 13th, 8-9ft at Guvs, and 9-10ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.

Wind – Pretty much onshore all day but much calmer than the weekend. It’ll likely be noticeable and soften the waves a touch, but in no way a deal breaker with plenty of clean faces to play in across the day.

Tide – Mellowing more – mid to high tide spots only today. Highs of 1.9m at 6:09am and 1.7m at 5:21pm, with a low of 1.1m at 11:31pm.

Tuesday: Another big and clean day!

Swell – We have a big single SW swell forecast for today with a longer 14 sec period so we’re expecting some lush clean faces. We’re hoping for 2-3ft at Whites, Fishos, and the beachy at Roady (maybe – the tide is pretty high all day), 3-4ft at Addis and Cosy, 4-5ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 6-7ft at Juc, and 13th, 8-9ft at Guvs, and 9-10ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We’ll likely see it more on the low end of those predictions by 6pm.

Wind – Onshore all day but mild all morning and won’t be noticeable. It picks up the tiniest bit in the arvo. Again, enough to notice, but not enough to have a significant impact of the quality of the waves. Still pretty lovely out.

Tide – Remaining super mellow with the highs also creeping down to meet the ‘low’ – barely moving across the day. Highs of 1.8m at 7:00am and 1.6m at 6:06pm with a low of 1.2m at 12:16pm.

Wednesday: Lush, clean, and more reasonably sized all day!

Swell – We have our single SW swell continuing to drop size across the day, but still with a longer 14 sec period. This means that is should be relatively clean though there are hints of a secondary SE that may appear – it’s very low odds at the moment but worth keeping an eye on as it may make things a bit messier. In the morning, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Whites, and Fishos, (tide too high for Roady all day), 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 4-5ft at Juc, and 13th, 5-6ft at Guvs, and 6-7ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. We’re expecting to lose about 2ft across all beaches by 6pm.

Wind – Has moments of onshore, offshore and cross-shore across the day but dead mild all day. Won’t impact a thing.

Tide – Flat as with no real movement - high of 1.7m at 8:05am and a low of 1.2m at 1:21pm.

Thursday: Small and clean all day. 😊

Swell – We have a single SW swell with 13 sec period so plenty of clean faces to play in. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Torq, OG, Anglesea, and Urqs, 2-3ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvs, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.

Wind – Swinging all over the place but dead mild all day! Lush!

Tide – Very mellow all day – high of 1.7m at 9:19am and low of 1.2m at 3:07pm.

Friday: Currently looking so nice and mellow – almost identical to Thursday. Should be lush conditions for the social surf at 10am.

A chance to lose ½-1ft across all beaches as the day goes on. There is the tiniest secondary SW swell forecast to arrive in the late arvo at the moment – so small we don’t think it would be noticeable, but a lot will change across the week, so keep an eye on it as we get closer.

Wind – Offshore all day and mild! Divine!

Tide – Still barely moving -  high of 1.7m at 10:26am with a low of 1.1m at 4:40pm.

A note about the surf forecast: like all weather forecasts, the further away the prediction is, the more likely it is to change. Most forecasts are only vaguely accurate about four hours in advance, which is why we try and choose the locations for our surf lessons and events the night before to give us the best chance possible to have an accurate read on what will be happening out there. This forecast is to help give you an idea of where you might want to head but please check the forecast again the night before and morning of your planned surf to see if there have been any changes. Always please do a conditions check at the actual beach, because a forecast is still a forecast, and it can just be plain wrong.

If you’d like a daily email or text with detailed information on the forecast for next day (so as accurate as we can get it), you can sign up for our Tomorrow’s Forecast service via the button.

A note on wave size: we talk about the size of the waves in relation to the face or front - how big it would be if you are standing on your surfboard at the base of the wave face looking back at it. For reference, 1-2ft would be roughly knee to thigh (maybe waist) high waves.

That’s it for this week, legends! See you out in the water soon! 🌊✌️

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
