Your Weekly Surf Outlook - 31st Jul 2026.
Happy Friday! This week has got loads of potential. Plenty of clean, fun conditions all over the coast.
Here’s a rough guide to what we’re expecting over the next week based on the current forecast:
Saturday: Pretty nice all day – just a couple of double ups about.
Swell – We have two SW swells rolling through, though the secondary is very small. It means there’ll be plenty of clean wave faces about with some patience, but also occasional double ups or slightly lumpier waves. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, Anglesea and Urquharts Bluff, 2-3ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvvos, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.
Wind – Offshore all day and mild. How lush! 😊
Tide – Nice swing moving through. Low of 0.6m at 6:59am and a high of 2.1m at 1:52pm.
Sunday: A bit more size, and lush clean conditions, especially in the morning!
Swell – We have a single SW swell with loooong 16 sec period that is due to arrive overnight which should deliver us clean and powerful waves, and likely slightly longer lulls between sets. The swell is dropping a touch across the day. At this stage we’re expecting 1/2-1ft at Point Roadknight (right at sunrise), 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, and Urquharts Bluff, 3-4ft at Juc, Possos, and the Torquay end of 13th Beach, 4-5ft at Guvvos and the Barwon Heads end of 13th, and 5-6ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. You can expect sets with an extra foot in size across all beaches first thing in the morning for a couple of hours.
Wind – Offshore all day and super mild for most of it! It’s due to pick up a bit from midday into the mid-afternoon enough to make the waves a bit steeper and pitchier. Keep an eye on your position and make sure they don’t blow you out to sea. Certainly not a deal breaker though.
Tide – Low of 0.5m at 7:50am and a high of 2.2m at 2:25pm. That high tide mark is going to be creeping close to the bottom of the sea walls and cliff on a few of our beaches (Addis, parts of Juc, Torquay, Ocean Grove). Keep an eye on it.
It’s our 7th birthday today and we’d love to have you join us for a social surf and picnic celebration! You can find all the details and RSVP here.
Monday: Another lovely day out in the surf, though a touch windy in the arvo.
Swell – We have our single SW swell, still with a long period of 14 secs, so we’re expecting nice clean lines at this stage. If the forecast holds up, we’re hoping 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy Corner, 2-3ft at Torquay, Anglesea and Urquharts Bluff, 3-4ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvvos, and 4-5ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. You may get a couple of sets right at sunrise with an extra foot in size, but it’s not looking like that will last for long.
Wind – Offshore all day. Mild very first thing in the morning and last thing in the evening so they are the pick of times to go. It’s got a little push to it for the rest of the day. We think it’ll mostly just be a touch annoying for most of it, rather than actually impacting the waves significantly. It’s due to pick up a bit more moderately around mid-afternoon, so you may notice it adding some steepness to the waves then and have to paddle around a bit to hold your position. Not a deal breaker at any time though.
Tide – Still a nice even swing moving through. Low of 0.5m at 8:19am and a high of 2.2m at 2:57pm. Keep an eye on those cliff faces and sea walls around the high – you’ll be close to them getting in and out.
Tuesday: Overall looking good at this stage, though a touch all over the place. We reckon this forecast will change a bit as we get closer.
Swell – We have a primary SW swell that’s going up in down in size across the day, and a SW secondary with a bit of size that is appearing and disappearing at multiple times across the day. We’d be hoping for clean faces and consistent size with some bigger sets, but mentally preparing for lots of double ups, not much break between sets, and slightly lumpier waves. At this stage for most of the day, we’re hoping for 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, and Urquharts Bluff, 3-4ft at Juc, and 13th, 4-5ft at Guvvos, and 5-6ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside, and expecting the odd bigger set (by about 1ft across all breaks) from around 3pm onwards. If the slightly bigger swell does end up coming through as forecast, Fishos should get going in the arvo and evening with 1-2ft.
Wind – Mostly cross-shore today (W) and swinging cross-onshore (SW) into the arvo and evening. It’s got a little push to it enough for you to notice it but it’s unlikely to really impact the quality of the waves too much. You can seek protection from it at beaches with westerly cliffs like Addis, Urqs, Torq, and Juc for calmer conditions.
Tide – Still a swing moving through. Low of 0.6m at 8:58am and a high of 2.2m at 3:29pm.
Wednesday: Lumpy bumpy at this stage with multiple swells. A nice day for a slightly grovelly surf.
Swell – We have three swells on the forecast for today, two SW and one SE, meaning that we can expect our peaks to be shifting around a bit, lumps and bumps in the wave faces and occasional sideways waves pushing through. We’re expecting 1-2ft at Torq, OG, Anglesea, and Urqs, 2-3ft at Juc, Guvs, and 13th, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.
Wind – Cross-shore (W) pretty much all day and pretty mild. We don’t think it’ll impact much at all the whole day.
Tide – Low of 0.6m at 9:37am and high of 2.1m at 4:01pm.
Thursday: Occasional double ups but overall looking relatively nice out there.
Swell – We have two SW swells in the forecast though the secondary is due to die out across the day, so we’re expecting some double ups and occasionally lumpier waves in the morning but they’re likely to improve and clean up as the day goes on. At this stage, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Torq, OG, Anglesea, and Urqs, 2-3ft at Guvs, 13th, and Juc, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. In the morning, it’s more likely to be on the smaller side of those predictions and moving more towards the higher end as the day goes on.
Wind – Cross-offshore (WNW) all day and very mild. You won’t notice it at all.
Tide – That morning low is creeping up to more a mid-tide height so some low tide locations may not get going properly today. Low of 0.7m at 10:17am and a high of 2.1m at 4:33pm.
Friday: Looking pretty lovely at the moment!
Swell – We have two SW swells pushing in though the secondary at this stage is appearing and disappearing across the day, so we’re hopefully it’ll just disappear fully off the forecast and leave us with lush, clean faces to work with. If it stays, we may get some double ups or slightly lumpier waves at various points during the day, but plenty of clean waves to be had too. At this stage, we’re expecting relatively clean 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 4-5ft at Guvs, 13th, and Juc, and 5-6ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.
Wind – Cross-offshore (WNW) to offshore all day and dead mild. Should be lovely out there!
Tide – Low tide mark is still creeping up. Low of 0.8m at 11:00am and a high of 2.1m at 5:08pm.
A note about the surf forecast: like all weather forecasts, the further away the prediction is, the more likely it is to change. Most forecasts are only vaguely accurate about four hours in advance, which is why we try and choose the locations for our surf lessons and events the night before to give us the best chance possible to have an accurate read on what will be happening out there. This forecast is to help give you an idea of where you might want to head but please check the forecast again the night before and morning of your planned surf to see if there have been any changes. Always please do a conditions check at the actual beach, because a forecast is still a forecast, and it can just be plain wrong.
If you’d like a daily email or text with detailed information on the forecast for next day (so as accurate as we can get it), you can sign up for our Tomorrow’s Forecast service via the button.
A note on wave size: we talk about the size of the waves in relation to the face or front - how big it would be if you are standing on your surfboard at the base of the wave face looking back at it. For reference, 1-2ft would be roughly knee to thigh (maybe waist) high waves.
That’s it for this week, legends! See you out in the water soon! 🌊✌️
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
