Your Weekly Surf Outlook - 7th Aug 2026.
Happy Friday! This week has got some pretty wild conditions on the way, with that wind starting to become more of an issue as we move towards classic Spring weather. The good news is that this Saturday is looking pretty lovely compared to a lot of the rest of the week. Some more HUGE swell on the way too!
Here’s a rough guide to what we’re expecting over the next week based on the current forecast:
Saturday: Pretty nice clean day, with increasing swell size as the day goes on.
Swell – We mostly have a single SW swell rolling through, though there is a secondary that is due to disappear by 6am – we may get a couple of double ups first thing as it dies out. It means there’ll be plenty of clean wave faces about with the waves picking up in size as the day rolls on. For most of the day, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy, 2-3ft Torquay, Ocean Grove, Anglesea and Urquharts Bluff, 3-4ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvvos, and 4-5ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. First thing in the morning though, expect 1-2ft less across all beaches. The slightly bigger swell should be filling in from 9am.
Wind – Offshore all day and mild in the morning. It’s picking up from around midday moderately but won’t be awful. You can expect the waves to become a little steeper and more pitchy, but still surfable.
Tide – No real low to speak of – mid to high tide locations only today. Highs of 2.1m at 6:26am and 2.0m at 5:46pm, with a low of 1.0m at 11:46am.
Sunday: Very windy with tiny waves. Keep a watch on this one.
Swell – We have a two little SW swells pushing in across the day, leaving us with occasional double ups and slightly lumpier waves. The swell is dropping across the day. At this stage we’re expecting 1/2-1ft at Torquay, Ocean Grove, Anglesea and Urquharts Bluff, 1-2ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvvos, and 2-3ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. You can expect sets with an extra foot in size across all beaches first thing in the morning for a couple of hours.
Wind – Offshore all day and strong, bordering on dangerous from around 10am onwards if it comes through as forecast. The wind is sitting generally around 30km/h with gusts up to 71km/h predicted. That’ll make the waves steep and pitchy, and your board a weapon in the water. Be careful if you head out today. Unfortunately it’s due to be like that all day, so the best we can hope for is that the forecast is just wrong.
Tide – No real low again – mid to high tide locations only today. Highs of 2.0m at 7:28am and 1.9m at 6:33pm, with a low of 1.1m at 12:40pm.
Monday: Potential for some clean faces to be found today, but you will have to go hunting for them.
Swell – We have two to three swells pushing in across today, two from the SW and one tiny one from the SE that is due to die out completely very early on. Expect occasional double ups, a little less rest between sets, and occasional lumpy wave faces, though you should be able to find clean ones with patience too. We have a massive jump in the swell size forecast to hit between 9am and midday where it more than doubles in size (from 4ft to 9.5ft). We don’t think that’ll appear out of nowhere and expect that it’s more likely to build across the morning. If the forecast were true as it’s written, we’d be expecting 1-2ft at Addis and Cosy Corner, 2-3ft at Torquay, Anglesea and Urquharts Bluff, 3-4ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvvos, and 4-5ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside until mid-morning. From 12pm, we’re expecting 2-3ft at Fishos and Whites, 3-4ft at Addis and Cosy Corner, 4-5ft at Torquay, OG, and Urquharts Bluff, 6-8ft at Juc, and 13th, 8-9ft at Guvvos, and 9-10ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside until mid-morning. There’s potential for an extra 1-2ft in size across all beaches above those predictions around 3pm before dropping off again. Definitely a day to watch as the forecast will likely change a bit.
Wind – Mostly cross-shore (W) though just tipping cross-onshore (WSW) for a moment around midday, and with a moderate push to it. Very first thing in the morning is looking reasonable if you’re up for a sunrise surf, but after that you can expect a bit of chop and mess in the waves, and to be getting pushed out of position down the beach throughout your session. Not a deal breaker but not super pleasant either. You can seek out protection with the cliffs at breaks like Addis, Juc, and Urqs.
Tide – Mid to high all day and very mellow in the swing. High of 2.0m at 8:37am and low of 1.2m at 1:46pm.
Tuesday: Lush in the morning and pretty reasonable for the rest of the day.
Swell – We have a primary SW swell that’s dropping in size across the day. First thing in the morning, we’re expecting 1-2ft at Fishos and Whites, 2-3ft at Addis and Cosy, 3-4ft at Torq, OG, and Urqs, 4-5ft at Juc and 13th, 6-7ft at Guvs, and 7-8ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. Across the day, we’ll lose size and you can expect 1-2ft less at all beaches from around 3pm onwards. There are tail ends of other little swells but overall, we’re hoping for pretty clean conditions and wave faces.
Wind – Cross-offshore (WNW) al day and pretty mild in the morning with the occasional strong gust possible. It is picking up from around midday onwards, so expect the waves to become a bit pitchier and steep. Certainly not a deal breaker but best in the morning if you can swing it.
Tide – No real low to speak of still and a very mellow swing – high of 2.0m at 9:52am and a low of 1.2m at 3:13pm.
Wednesday: Huge swing in the wave size today, with plenty of wind about. In one word: unpredictable.
Swell – We mostly have a single SW swell today so we’re largely expecting clean lines. There is a tiny secondary appearing and disappearing off the forecast a couple of times throughout the day, so there may be the occasional double up but we’re not really expecting it to impact much. Based on the current forecast, at 6am we’d be expecting 1-2ft at Torq, OG, Anglesea, and Urqs, 2-3ft at Juc, 13th, and Guvs, and 3-4ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside. By 6pm, we’d be expecting 3-4ft at Whites and Fishos (with a hectic sweep at the later), Addis trying to hold 4-5ft (Cosy a washout), 5-6ft off the points at Torquay and Urqs (OG a washout), 7-8ft at Juc and parts of 13th, Guvs trying to hold 8-10ft though likely a washout, and 10-12ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.
Wind – Moderate all day with stronger gusts. It’s offshore for most of the day, swinging cross-shore (W) around 3pm. You can expect it to be holding the waves up a little and we’d definitely recommend wearing protection for your ears (hood, surf ears, etc). It’ll likely push you out of position too. Not a deal breaker but not ideal either.
Tide – Still not much of a low across the day – high of 2.0m at 11:02am and low of 1.2m at 4:45pm.
Thursday: Huge and impressive – great for our intermediate to advanced surfers!
Swell – We have a BIG single SW swell forecast with long 15-16 sec period so clean faces and big power in the waves. At this stage we’re expecting 12-14ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside, Juc and parts of 13th will be trying to hold 10-12ft, 5-7ft off the reef (Drainos, points) at Torq and Urqs, and Fishos will be cranking with 4-5ft and a hectic sweep. The swell may be big enough for Roady to also get going with similar around the lower tide mark. Most of our sand bottom beaches (Guvs, Addis, Cosy, OG, etc) are likely to be washouts at this size and unable to hold any shape of a wave. Sand banks will be getting ripped around and reforming in real time. We’re looking at waves more on the higher end of those predictions at the start of the day, and towards the lower end by the evening.
Wind – Pretty much cross-shore (W) all day and mild to moderate with the morning being the best time to head out. The wind will be noticeable all day but unlikely to impact anything until around midday when it picks up. Even then, it’s mostly just going to be annoying and cold, rather than having a huge impact on our waves – especially when they’re as big as they are.
Tide – Starting to see the morning low creep down a little more so may get some low tide spots working a bit better right at sunrise. Lows of 0.5m at 4:51am and 1.0m at 5:57pm, with a high of 2.1m at 12:01pm. The combo of that high tide and big swell is going to be hectic at beaches with cliffs and sea walls (Addis, Juc, OG). Be careful.
Friday: Solid, slightly more reasonable sized waves with a little wind.
Swell – We still have our epic single SW swell forecast with long 15 sec period, so the waves should be pumping clean lines for us today. At this stage we’re expecting 2-3ft at Whites, Fishos (from around 9am onwards) and Roady (sunrise will be best), 3-4ft at Addis (Cosy may just be holding the same, but we suspect it’ll be a wash out for most of the day), 4-5ft at Torq, OG (just), and Urqs, 6-7ft at Juc and 13th, 7-8ft at Guvs and the Barwon Heads end of 13th, and 8-10ft at Bells, Winki, and Southside.
Wind – Cross-shore (W) pretty much all day and on the gentler end of moderate. You’ll likely notice it, but it shouldn’t dramatically negatively impact the conditions out there.
Tide – Low tide mark is still creeping down in the morning for us. Lows of 0.5m at 5:58am and 0.8m at 6:49pm, with a high of 2.1m at 12:51pm. While it won’t be as bad as Thu, still keep an eye out at beaches with cliffs and sea walls (Addis, Juc, OG) around that high tide/ bigger swell combo.
A note about the surf forecast: like all weather forecasts, the further away the prediction is, the more likely it is to change. Most forecasts are only vaguely accurate about four hours in advance, which is why we try and choose the locations for our surf lessons and events the night before to give us the best chance possible to have an accurate read on what will be happening out there. This forecast is to help give you an idea of where you might want to head but please check the forecast again the night before and morning of your planned surf to see if there have been any changes. Always please do a conditions check at the actual beach, because a forecast is still a forecast, and it can just be plain wrong.
If you’d like a daily email or text with detailed information on the forecast for next day (so as accurate as we can get it), you can sign up for our Tomorrow’s Forecast service via the button.
A note on wave size: we talk about the size of the waves in relation to the face or front - how big it would be if you are standing on your surfboard at the base of the wave face looking back at it. For reference, 1-2ft would be roughly knee to thigh (maybe waist) high waves.
That’s it for this week, legends! See you out in the water soon! 🌊✌️
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions!
