Level
3

These lessons are for people who are confident paddling out and taking off on 2-3 foot waves, and want to work on technique, turns, and speed. This is a video analysis session with the coach on land filming, not in the water with you. You're expected to have good board control, the ability to take off and trim along the face of unbroken waves, and an understanding of surf etiquette. Each lesson includes 1.5 hour in-water session, and a private 30 minute Zoom session at a later date for coaching and video analysis.

Please note - we are still only able to take you to our permitted beaches. We won't ever be able to take you to places like Bells or Juc for these lessons.

Max. 4 people per class.

Adults-only lessons.

frequently asked questions

Where will the surf lessons take place?
Our lessons will run at Ocean Grove, 13th Beach, Point Addis, Urquharts Bluff, or Fairhaven, depending on the conditions we have on the day. You'll be notified of the meeting location the day before your session. Please note that the weather and conditions are out of our control. While we do our best to try and find the most suitable locations, some days we will have less than ideal conditions and we'll have to make the best of whatever is there for us on the day.

How are you going to help coach me on my specific goals in a group setting?
We group our lessons by ability to try and match you with people working on similar things, and will only have a maximum of 8 people per lesson to give you plenty of time to work with our instructors during your surf on whatever you specifically need help with. Our coaches are excellent at providing personalised advise to each participant during our surf lessons.

Do I need to be a good swimmer?
Our complete beginners will be starting out where they can stand, in waist to chest depth water, and we'll never force you to go deeper than where you're comfortable. If you want to paddle out the back, you should be able to comfortably tread water and swim 100-200m unaided, just in case your leg rope snaps and you lose your board.

What happens if I can't make it?
We ask for 24 hours notice to cancel your session, where we can either offer you a refund, or transfer you to a future class. With less than 24 hours notice, unfortunately the session will be forfeited.

Any other questions? Get in contact and one of our friendly staff will be happy to answer your inquiry.
